Page 9 The saga started innocently enough. An Arcadia businessman decides to build a humble retreat near a picturesque Southern Arizona town. You know, a place for him and his friends to get away from the hustle and bustle, drink some wine and get acquainted with nature. Thus began a two-decade odyssey—including seven years of painstaking site development, construction and ahead-of-its-time green living ingenuity—resulting in a property modest in appearance yet richly therapeutic. So one Presidents Weekend (Farrell likes to say “in the early 90s” as if the exact date isn’t really important) he and some friends drove down to Patagonia to connect with a Realtor. The Realtor showed him a property offering exactly what he envisioned. Destiny, perhaps.
