3 ENTERTAIN FOR THE HOLIDAYS Get ready to host a holiday gathering that guests will remember forever. Two local catering companies share their experience and advice. 4 This month, our cover image focuses on the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright; specifically, his winter home and school of architecture, Taliesin West, which recently became the second UNESCO World Heritage Site in Arizona, the first being the Grand Canyon. UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Its mission is to “build peace through international cooperation in education, the sciences and culture.” In order for a site to be considered for the World Heritage title, it must meet at least one out of ten selection criteria. The Arcadia neighborhood is familiar with Frank Lloyd Wright’s work, as the house he built for his son, David, has been the topic of many a conversation in the recent past. The David Wright house was featured in Arcadia News in May 2015. The piece discusses the history and its architectural design. We have also included Wright’s other homes built in the Phoenix area; if you’re ever out on a Sunday drive, you might just see one.
